Ocean Albatros will be christened in Copenhagen
The Ocean Albatros, the second ship to showcase the innovative Ulstein X-Bow hull design, is set to be officially named on May 7, 2024, at Nordre Tolbod in Copenhagen, Denmark, the birthplace of the family-owned company. This vessel, which can accommodate 169 passengers, has been in service since May 2023.

Søren Rasmussen, the Founder and Chairman, has emphasized the company's commitment to delivering memorable guest experiences since its inception in 1986. He has highlighted the significance of their contemporary, eco-conscious ships in offering unique Nordic-inspired journeys, typically traversing between Antarctica and the Arctic. The upcoming naming ceremony in Copenhagen provides an opportunity to celebrate this milestone with loved ones.

Attendees of the event will be able to tour the Ocean Albatros with guided tours, appreciating its sleek design and state-of-the-art technology. The ceremony will culminate with the traditional champagne christening, officially inducting the ship into the fleet.

Furthermore, more spots are now available for expeditions to Antarctica aboard the Ocean Albatros, following the opening up of previously chartered sailings. General sales have commenced for an 18-day voyage departing on January 4, 2025.

In other news, Hans Lagerweij, who had been serving as CEO intermittently since July 2023, has departed from the expedition company. Lagerweij has taken up the role of Interim CEO at Positive Polar, a new venture specializing in science-driven expedition cruises. Rasmussen has assumed CEO duties until a permanent replacement is named.
